PURA Numbers reads your address book on the phone and finds the numbers the change applies to.

PURA Numbers lists every affected number with its old and new form side by side, and the two inserted digits marked. Nothing is written until you select and confirm.

Before writing anything, PURA Numbers saves a record of each number as it was. Restore a whole run from the History tab, indefinitely, without a connection.

Check one number, without access to any
No contacts permission needed. Type a Gambian mobile number and PURA Numbers shows what it becomes, which operator block it belongs to, and the whole published plan.

The plan
The prefix depends on the operator the number belongs to. PURA Numbers reads the block your number starts with and applies the matching prefix.

Gamcel appears in the plan with no prefix published. PURA Numbers reports those numbers as needing a decision rather than guessing at them, and will not change them until the prefix is published.

A bank, a clinic or a ministry cannot run a phone app over a customer database. Drop a CSV or Excel file into the converter instead — the same rules, the same refusal to guess, and the file never leaves your computer.

From PURA
It is published by PURA, the authority that issues The Gambia's numbering plan. PURA's public notice warns that impersonators will target this migration, so check the publisher before you install: the genuine app is listed by PURA on the App Store and Google Play. Every fact stated here links to the published notice so you can check it yourself.
The regulator’s own notice warns the public to expect impersonation during this migration. Before you install anything, check it against that notice rather than against this page:
- The genuine app is listed by PURA on the App Store and Google Play. Check the publisher name, not the app name — anyone can pick a name.
- It will never ask for a PIN, a password, a one-time code, a mobile-money balance or a payment. Nothing in it costs money.
- It asks for one permission only: your contacts. Anything asking for more is not this app.
