These terms apply to the PURA Numbers mobile app and to this website. Using either means accepting them.
What PURA Numbers does
PURA Numbers reads the contacts on your device, identifies numbers affected by The Gambia’s numbering change taking effect on 4 September 2026, and — with your explicit confirmation — updates them. It writes only the changes you have selected and confirmed, and it records each number as it was beforehand so the change can be undone.
Who publishes it
It is published by PURA, the authority that issues The Gambia's numbering plan. PURA's public notice warns that impersonators will target this migration, so check the publisher before you install: the genuine app is listed by PURA on the App Store and Google Play. Every fact stated here links to the published notice so you can check it yourself.
PURA Numbers reproduces the published numbering plan as accurately as it can and links to the public notice so you can check it. The published notice remains the authoritative statement of the plan; where the plan is silent, PURA Numbers says so rather than filling the gap.
What it costs
PURA Numbers is free. It carries no fee, no subscription, no advertising and nothing to purchase inside it.
Your responsibility
You decide which changes to apply. Review them before confirming. If a change is wrong, restore that run from the History tab and tell us which operator block was misread, so it can be corrected for everyone.
Accuracy, and its limits
PURA Numbers applies the numbering plan as published. It cannot know which operator a number has been ported to, and a number that has moved between operators may be assigned the prefix of the block it was originally issued from. Where no prefix has been published for a block, PURA Numbers leaves those numbers alone rather than guessing.
PURA Numbers is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we do not warrant that it will identify every affected number correctly, and you remain responsible for the contents of your own address book. Nothing in this section limits any right you have under the Personal Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2025, or under any other law of The Gambia that cannot be excluded by agreement.
Your data
Your contacts are read on your phone and are never uploaded. PURA is the data controller for the limited processing that does occur, and how it is handled — the lawful basis for it, how long it is kept, where it is processed, and the rights Part 3 of the Personal Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2025 gives you over it — is set out in full in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Reports about the numbering plan are voluntary. They carry no contact, no phone number and no identifier for you or your device, and sending one is never a condition of using the app.
Reporting a wrong conversion
The reporting channel exists so that an error in the published table can be found and corrected. Please use it for that. Submitting reports in bulk, or automating them, takes the channel away from people with a genuine correction to make, and the endpoint limits how many reports it accepts from one connection in an hour.
No account
PURA Numbers needs no account. There is no sign-in, no password and no code to enter. Scanning, reviewing, saving, undo and the manual lookup are all available from the moment you install it.
Ending use
You can stop using PURA Numbers at any time by deleting the app. Everything PURA Numbers keeps is on the phone, so deleting it removes the lot — including the undo records, so restore any run you still want reversed first.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of The Gambia, and the courts of The Gambia have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from your use of PURA Numbers.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date above changes with them and material changes are stated in the app.
